"Appalachian Dulcimer"
with
Liz Law
Absolute beginners welcome.
All instruments provided but bring your own too.
Liz Law
Liz Law has played mountain dulcimer for many years, both as a solo musician, and in duos and bands. She believes that mountain dulcimer is an underestimated instrument, and could be used to teach music to beginners, because it is easy to get started, playing tunes in a matter of a couple of hours' tuition.
She taught dulcimer at the Sage, Gateshead for over two years. She has also held workshops on numerous occasions, including the "Absolute Beginners" workshops, also run by the Sage, Gateshead. She is also willing to teach individuals either privately, or as a group.
In 2003 she was the main mountain dulcimer teacher at the Nonsuch Dulcimer club's annual get-together at Launde Abbey, in Leicestershire. This involved leading five workshops on various aspects of dulcimer playing over the weekend.
In 2003 and 2004 she taught at the club's "Winter Warmer" weekend at York.
She has also held dulcimer workshops at Folk Festivals, including Portpatrick and Lomond festivals.
