Virtual House Concert 30th June – Jim Causley

We continue our successful series of house concerts by Zoom with guest Jim Causley.  Jim will be well-known to many of us as a frequent performer at folk clubs and festivals all over the UK. His many collaborators, projects and award nominations are a testament to his popularity and versatility.

These include;

    • composing the music for a BBC4 programme about his relative poet Charles Causley, and creating a new album of his children’s poems set to music
    • combining with last month’s guest, Emily Portman and Lauren McCormick in the singing group Devil’s Interval
    • touring with the popular band Mawkin:Causley as well as appearing with Alice Jones, Greg Russell and others as the “Band of Love” in the Party in the Park sponsored by Radio 2 in 2018 (not-to-be-missed clip here – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gufgPigWJMs)

Jim’s latest CD, produced under lockdown conditions is “Devonshire Roses: 20 Favourite Songs of Devon”.

Go to his web site https://www.jimcausley.co.uk/ and you will find details of this and all his records and videos. Listen to him and it very quickly becomes apparent that Jim has been blessed with a glorious bass baritone voice. This earned him the description in Mojo as “The finest singer of his generation,” and the simple statement of fact by Geoff Lakeman, “A voice in a million”

The Virtual Concert will take place on June 30th starting at 8pm.  Please contact Ryburn 3 Step to reserve a screen for the event either by email (ryburn3step@gmail.com) or by phone (01422 823099 or 01422 822569)

We do not charge for these concerts but encourage you to donate what you can afford to the artist (https://www.jimcausley.co.uk/) and purchase CDs and merchandise from there.  Jim has a Paypal tip jar account (www.paypal.me/JamesRCausley) into which it is easy for you to transfer your much-appreciated donation.
