Barn Dance with “Monkey Box” and caller Michelle Holding
March 16 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Michelle Holding is gaining quite a following for Folk Dance and Ceilidh calling with her outgoing and enthusiastic, welcoming gender-free calling style. She’s an experienced Morris Dancer and performs in Folk Clubs and concerts as well, singing traditional and contemporary British and American songs, playing guitar, banjo and concertina.
We are delighted to welcome Michelle to Ryburn 3 Step’s Barn Dances for the first time.
The band will be “Monkey Box“, led by that marvellous fiddler Tom Kitching:
“Who are these oddly dressed men?” “Did you invite them?” and “Do you think they’re going to pay this bar bill?'”are just some of the questions being asked about this energetic ceilidh trio from Manchester.
Comprising Tom Kitching (Pilgrims’ Way, Albireo, Gavin Davenport), Edwin Beasant (Pilgrims’ Way, Jabadaw, Ironmasters) and Pete Crowther (Melandra, Albireo), Monkey Box creates a sound larger than it has any right to be. Chunky English rhythms underpin great dance tunes for a feel-good dancing experience.
