Dick Miles at the Ryburn Folk Club
April 24 @ 8:00 pm - 11:00 pm
Veteran singer with concertina, banjo and guitar.
Dick Miles has been singing traditional songs and playing the concertina almost all his life. He lived for many years in Suffolk, but now lives in the South-West of Ireland.
For over thirty years he has been singing at maritime festivals, including Merseyside and Lancaster, folk festivals and clubs all over the British and Irish Islands. He has written two concertina tutors, one of which is on song accompaniment.
He has recorded 3 CDs, one with Tim Laycock, John Kirkpatrick, and Harry Scurfield and was a founder member (from 1984 to 1988) of the “New Mexborough English Concertina Quartet”.
In more recent years he has started song-writing, particularly songs of the sea such as: “The Sailors Dream”, which is the title of his new songbook. Dick is in great demand for maritime and folk festivals and we are delighted to have him as our guest. Check out his web site for more information.
The Ryburn Folk Club starts at 8:00 p.m. after a few tunes from the Pit Band from 7.45. There is an interval about 9.15, Club Residents and floor singers start each half before Dick does his stuff.
We hope you will come along and enjoy the evening with us.
